Pigeons

Often referred to as flying rats they are actually capable of spreading more diseases through their droppings and saliva such as psittacosis.(insert picture) They cause problems when their nests block drains and guttering causing water damage to the outside of buildings. Their droppings become very slippery when wet and can cause slip hazards outside buildings and on fire escapes and these droppings smell and provide a breeding medium for flies with the associated potential for disease transmission. The droppings themselves are acid and over time will contribute to the structural failure of the building. Hillbans can offer a range of different proofing options dependant on the numbers and location of the flock. We also undertake the very unpleasant job of pigeon debris clearance.

Herring Gulls

Are one of the few species of Gull that qualified and licensed contractors are allowed to control. These are very large and VERY aggressive birds and when eggs or chicks are present will defend their nests ruthlessly. Even we approach Herring Gull colonies very cautiously. (insert picture) The nests are large and untidy and can block drains and gutters, however one of their main problems is that they are very noisy and will call loudly from early morning to reinforce their territories.
